Choosing the Right Homecare Provider

Below are the most important questions to ask a homecare provider in order to evaluate if this provider is the right choice for you or your loved one.
  1. Is the home healthcare provider licensed?
  2. Is the home healthcare provider accredited by a national accreditation firm?
  3. Are the caregivers qualified and supervised by the provider's Clinical Directors?
  4. Does the provider perform criminal background check on the caregivers, does the provider check if the caregivers license is valid, does the provider have caregivers participate in ongoing and additional training and education?
  5. Does the provider send a Registered Nurse to meet the family and develop a plan of care of the caregivers to follow and will the provider do random checks on the caregiver while with the patient?
  6. Are caregivers regularly supervised and evaluated by the provider's Clinical Directors?
  7. If the caregiver doesn't meet your standards or you are dissatisfied with the caregiver, will the provider replace the caregiver on your request?
  8. Does the provider have replacement for the caregiver if he/she cannot work?
  9. Does the provider keep a log book in your home to document services performed by the caregiver?
  10. Does the provider offer 24 hour care, 7 days per week, and 365 days a year?
